Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

Ty Rattie has caught fire for the Winterhawks, with a seven-game point streak in which he's amassed 17 points. Rattie had four assists in yesterday's 6-0 win over Tri-Cities, his fourth straight multi-point game, and second game in the streak with at least four points. He's up to 18 points on the season, tying him for 17th in the league, with his 12 games played the fewest of any top-20 scorer.

The Hawks were a perfect 5-5 on the penalty kill in the win over the Americans last night, improving their league-best penalty kill to 91.2%. In eight games thus far in October, the Hawks have given up just one power play goal, killing 97.4% of their penalties.

Since returning to the Hawks from the AHL's Rockford Ice Hogs, Mac Carruth has been outstanding in net for the Hawks. He's posted a 4-0 record with two shutouts, along with a goals against average of 0.75 and 96.7% save percentage. Carruth is 14 wins from tying the franchise record of 105, currently held by Darrell May, Sr.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

With the holiday season around the corner, fans can help make things a little easier for those in need at our game vs. Victoria Friday. The Winterhawks Booster Club is hosting a food drive for the Food Bank and Sunshine Division the game and we encourage our fans to stop by the Booster Club table outside Entry A12 on the concourse to donate a non-perishable food item to help those in need Friday.

The Hawks play a Veterans Day game on Sunday, November 11 and have a special ticket offer that will give fans a chance to see a great game and help the troops. Fans can head to winterhawks.com, click on the Operation Home Front banner ad, and purchase tickets with $8-10 going to the Salvation Army's Operation Home Front, which provides one-time, emergency financial assistance to currently- or recently-deployed military personnel and their families.

The annual Turkey Shoot is Saturday after the game vs. Victoria. All women 18 and over can go on the ice after the game and take a shot on net. If they score a goal, they'll win a voucher for a free turkey from Fred Meyer.
