Portland Chinooks News Release
Business mogul, philanthropist, professional sports team owner, and now the LA Film Festival. Is there anything that Portland, Oregon businessman Terry Emmert can't do? Emmert's world-renowned mega hauling company is taking on yet another monumental feat.
Emmert International received worldwide acclaim when they successfully transported the world's biggest rock. 'Rock Star', a 340-ton boulder was moved from its quarry in Riverside County to Los Angeles, California. The 105 mile trip spanned 10 nights, crossing through 22 cities to its resting place at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) .
The Rock Star drew the eyes of a filmmaker who made a documentary titled "Levitated Mass". It was featured this past Thursday night, June 20th at the Los Angeles Film Festival. While Terry Emmert walked the red carpet, his Portland Chinooks of the International Basketball League took care of business with yet another win to make the boss proud. To cap a great evening, " Levitated Mass" received 4th place acclaim in a category of 200 entries.
Then, there's the next order of business. On Saturday, June 22nd, Emmert International began yet another major haul. The task here is to move a 50' wide cryostat magnet weighing 15 tons from Long Island, New York to to Chicago Illinois. It will take five long weeks.
When you have a magnet this big, odds are you're not going anywhere fast. Emmert plans to load it on a barge where it will travel down the east coast, around the tip of Florida and up the Mississippi, Illinois, and Des Plaines rivers. From there, the priceless payload will be put back on an Emmert International rig where it will make a much shorter two-day trip to the Fermilab in Chicago.
