Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons will hold their second and final open tryout camp of the off-season in Hazel Park June 17-19. The camp is the second of the team's first full off-season in the North American Hockey League.

Like the Fighting Falcons' first open tryout in May, this camp will include team practices with members of the coaching staff, scrimmages and an all-star game on Sunday, June 19. Players at this camp will compete for an invite to Port Huron's main tryout camp, to be attended by returning players from last year's inaugural season.

The Fighting Falcons saw nearly 70 players fight for a main camp invite at their first tryout camp, many of whom left an impression on the coaching staff. One of them, Russia's Ronald Kotkin, played well enough to become Port Huron's seventh-round pick in the NAHL Draft.

All Fighting Falcons tryout camps this summer will take place at Hazel Park Ice Arena in Hazel Park, Michigan. Holding the camp in the Metro Detroit Area eases the travel burden for many players, including those flying in from out of state. A handful of players at the last camp came from overseas, including some from Sweden, Russia and the Czech Republic.

Though all goaltender spots for the upcoming camp have been filled, the team is still accepting applications from forwards and defensemen. Players interested in a tryout can complete a registration packet on the Fighting Falcons home page at www.phfightingfalcons.com.

All players must complete each form in the registration packet, also including a valid USA Hockey Confirmation number. 2011-12 USA Hockey Registration opened April 1, and is available at www.usahockeyregistration.com.
