Wenatchee Wild News Release

WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Wenatchee Wild is proud to announce that Wenatchee will host its first ever NCAA Division I hockey game, between the Air Force Falcons and Simon Fraser Clan, at the Town Toyota Center on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The contest will be a homecoming for three members of Air Force: Adam McKenzie, Ryan Timar and Mitch Torrel, all of whom were part of the 2009-10 Wild team that competed in the Robertson Cup Championship Tournament.

McKenzie, a Petaluma, Calif. native, is coming off a brilliant freshman campaign with the Falcons. He scored 18 points (5G, 13A) in regular-season league games, the most of all freshmen defensemen in the Atlantic Hockey Association. He was later named to Atlantic Hockey's All-Rookie Team.

Timar and Torrel were also integral components of the Falcons team that won the Atlantic Hockey Association title and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in the last five years. Air Force was knocked out of the tournament in the East Regional in a 2-1 overtime loss to Yale, but finished the season ranked No. 18 in the nation according to the final USCHO.com poll.

In March, Simon Fraser University captured its third British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League championship in the last four years.

The exhibition game between Air Force and Simon Fraser will begin at 5:35 p.m. The game is part of season ticket holder packages, and remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public in early August.
