Polar Twins open season at .500

The Winston-Salem Polar Twins opened their inaugural season at 1-1. Friday night the Twins took on the Jacksonville Barracudas, dropping their home opener 5-3 to last year's WHA2 champions. Chad Brandimore scored the first goal of the New Ice Age, a shorthanded tally late in the first period. Rhett Dudley and Chester Gallant also scored in the defeat. Saturday night the Asheville Aces flew into town but the Polar Twins came out victorious on goals by Gallant, Shaun Aebig, Bill Cass, and Jeff LaPointe.

Brandimore bringing his ‘A' game

Six points in two games leads league in scoring

Winston-Salem, NC

After two games this weekend, Chad Brandimore leads the SPHL in scoring. After tallying the first goal in new-era Polar Twins history, a shorthanded goal over Jacksonville, Brandimore went on to add two assists against Jacksonville and three more versus Asheville for a six-point performance that puts him ahead of Macon's Ryan Rivard for the league-lead in scoring.

Shaun Aebig with 3 points (1G, 2A)

Marcus Willy with 3 points (0G, 3A)

Chester Gallant with 2 goals in 2 games

Scott Gouthro with 29 saves and a .906 save percentage versus Asheville for a 1-0 record
