Plenty of action on first day of trades in QMJHL

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 18, 2006 - A number of trades were completed on the first day of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League trade period.
The Foreurs acquired forward Jérôme Samson (87-09-04) from the Wildcats as part of the trade that sent defenseman Luc Bourdon to Moncton last January. Val-d'Or also acquired the services of Rocket winger David Petardi (88-07-14) for an eighth round pick in 2007. Finally, they acquired forward Justin Saulnier (87-04-16) and a 6th round pick in 2007 from the Mooseheads for Peter-James Corsi (88-08-03).
The Sea Dogs sent Alexandre Labonté (88-04-25), Alexandre Monahan (88-03-14) and a 5th round pick in the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft to Victoriaville for forwards Keven Guérette-Charland (89-05-10) and Kyle Kelly (88-05-06).
The Victoriaville Tigres sent goaltender Jonathan Roy (89-03-15) to the Quebec Remparts for their eighth round selection in 2007. Then, the Remparts acquired Kirk Forrest (87-05-04) from the Mooseheads for their 4th round pick in 2007 (acquired from Rouyn-Noranda).
The Fog Devils sent defenseman Daniel Whelen (89-09-02) to the Moncton Wildcats for their 5th round pick (acquired from St. John's) in 2007.
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan acquired the Foreurs' 3rd round pick in 2008 (acquired from Acadie-Bathurst) which completes the Mathieu Roy trade to Val-d'Or. The Titan also traded forward Kristopher Schmidt (88-05-02) and goaltender Maxime Gougeon (88-05-03) to the Voltigeurs for their 8th round pick in 2007 and 8th round pick in 2008.
The Voltigeurs continued their morning spree by acquiring defenseman Sébastien Bernier (87-02-06) from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens for their 10th round selection in 2007 as well as their 4th round pick in 2008 (acquired from Acadie-Bathurst). Then, Drummondville traded goaltender Pierre-Alexandre Marion (87-03-09) to the Fog Devils for a 4th round pick in 2008.
The trade period ends on Monday, January 8, at noon.
