Playoffs Set as Rainmen Drop Storm for Atlantic Division Title

(Charlottetown, PE) The playoff matchups are set for the Atlantic Division as the Halifax Rainmen claimed top spot with a 108-94 win over the Island STORM Thursday night at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.

The first round of the playoffs will pit the #2 STORM against the #3 Saint John Mill Rats in a series which will start in Charlottetown next week. Meanwhile, the Rainmen will play the #4 Moncton Miracles. Both series are a best of five in the first round.

The Rainmen raced out to a 34-20 lead after the first quarter and held the lead by as much as 26 points in the second. The STORM fought back to within 14 at halftime and came as close as 6 in the third quarter.

Nick Okorie was the top gun for the STORM Thursday night with 19 points while Mike Williams scored 17 and Sammy Zeglinski 13 with 6 assists.

Kevin Young led the Rainmen with 20 points, Cliff Clinkscales had 16 and 7 assists, and Chris Cayole scored 15.

Emily Schurman won the Sherwood Mortgage Brokers Draw by having her next months mortgage payment, up to $1,000, paid for while Tracy MacLean won half of $1,050 in the nights 50-50 draw.
