Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 14, 2006) - In what has become an annual right of fall in Central Islip, fans once again camped out early to be the first ones on the Island to get their hands on Ducks playoff tickets. When the Box Office opened at 10:00 a.m., the tickets began to fly out the window and continued at a steady clip throughout the day. At closing time, over 60 percent of the tickets for all four potential home games had been sold. Despite the turnout, there are still plenty of great seats available.
"The turnout that our fans gave us today was a good indication that the fans on Long Island are ready for the postseason," says Ducks general manager Michael Hirsch. "Our organization is thrilled to have that kind of support from our fans as we look to capture our second Atlantic League tile."
Fans can purchase tickets for all four potential playoff games by calling 631-940-TIXX, by going to www.liducks.com and clicking on the tickets icon, or by visiting the Citibank Park ticket office during regular box office hours. A small fee will be charged for all tickets purchased through the Internet. Ticket prices for the 2006 Atlantic League Playoffs will range from $8.00 (standing room only) to $11.00 (field box seats) per seat.
Dick Van Cott, the man who set a record for standing in line 75 hours prior to Ducks 2006 individual tickets going on sale and was the âFirst Man Standing' for each of the 2004-2006 seasons, was once again at the forefront of fans waiting to purchase Ducks tickets. The 75-year old Bay Shore native began camping out at Citibank Park at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, a full 24 hours prior to tickets going on sale.
"We love coming out to see our Ducks," says Van Cott. "I figured that since I was the first in line for tickets this year, I could do it again for the postseason. I can do 24 hours in this weather on my head! It's not like the cold of March."
