
Playing In The Alaska Indoor Flag Football League Pays Off For Three Players

Alaska Professional Sports, Inc. and the Alaska Wild are proud to announce the signing of three 2008 Alaska Indoor Flag Football League (AIFFL) players to join the Wild for the 2008 season; Calvin Savage, Elgin Hollins and Sidrik Green. The AIFFL is a development league for potential Alaska Wild players and last season produced six signed players for the Wild.
Quarterback Calvin Savage (6'2ft, 240lbs.), a former East High school standout, will battle for the quarterback slot this 2008 Wild training camp. Savage played last year with the Wild in seven games. Savage saw action at various positions. At linebacker, Savage totaled six tackles in games played with the Wild and at place kicker he average 35 yards per kickoff. Savage spent time in the Army after high school. When Savage came back to Anchorage from his military duties he started playing in the Anchorage Flag Football Association (AFFA). In the last ten years, Savage has become an AFFA legend by being on three championship winning teams and winning three Most Valuable Player awards in the AFFA. Also, Savage has played the last four years in the Alaska Indoor Flag Football League (AIFFL) as a threat at the quarterback position.
Wide Receiver Elgin Hollins (6'0ft, 190lbs.), is a former Sitka (AK.) High school all-state athlete. This former high school football offensive player of the year took his talents to the lower 48's after high school. Hollins played college football for Modesto Junior College (CA). Hollins came back to Alaska after college and joined the Anchorage Flag Football Association (AFFA). In the AFFA, Hollins won two championships. The past four years, Hollins played in the Alaska Indoor Flag Football League (AIFFL) and last season was in the top three in receptions in the AIFFL.
Wide Receiver Sidrik Green (5'6ft, 173lbs.), out of Myrtle Beach, SC., will provide an explosive ball of energy this season for the Wild. Don't let his size fool you, Green has a squat of 500lbs. and was once a 2-time South Carolina State Weight Lifting Champion. Green had a storied high school football career and he was named Coca-Cola player of the year in his state. Green spent a year playing semi-professional football in South Carolina. Green came to Anchorage last year and has been playing in the Alaska Indoor Flag Football League for the past two years.
The Alaska Wild is part of the Intense Football League (IFL). Founded in 2003, the IFL consists of a record nine professional indoor football teams, three of which are located outside of Texas, the Louisiana Swashbucklers of Lake Charles, the Alaska Wild of Anchorage, Alaska and the Fairbanks Grizzlies of Fairbanks, Alaska. Texas teams include the CenTex Barracudas of Belton, Corpus Christi Hammerheads, Odessa Roughnecks, San Angelo Stampede Express, Katy Ruff Riders, and Frisco Thunder.
