
Plaisance Logs Double-Double in Loss to Mercury

The Dallas Wings (5-14) fell to the Phoenix Mercury (9-8) 70-66 at College Park Center Saturday, July 20. Theresa Plaisance led the Wings effort with 10 rebounds and 10 points, her fourth double-double of the season. Glory Johnson came up just one rebound short of a double-double herself with 15 points and nine boards. The seventh-year pro has averaged more than 10 points and six rebounds per game since her return from EuroBasket.
Dallas led 53-49 after three quarters of play but were outscored 21 to 13 in the fourth quarter as the Wings' were unable to complete the comeback despite bringing themselves within one point in the final period. Kayla Thornton collected 16 points and seven rebounds, her ninth double-digit performance of the season. The Wings also combined for six blocks, the fifth time this season the team has had more than five blocks in a game, including a career-high tying three blocks from Plaisance and the second block of Brooke McCarty-William's career.
The Wings return from the All-Star break to battle the Las Vegas Aces on July 30 at Mandalay Bay Events Center. Fans can tune in on Twitter to watch the game at 9 pm CT.
