Pittsburgh Xplosion announce 2006-07 CBA schedule

PITTSBURGH, October 10, 2006 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion today announced its schedule for the 2006-07 season, the team's first as a member of the Continental Basketball Association. The Xplosion will play a 48 game regular season slate, including 24 home games at the Mellon Arena.

The oldest professional basketball league in the world, the CBA begins its 61st consecutive season on Thursday, November 30. The Xplosion's season kicks-off on Friday, Dec. 1 when the team travels to face the Albany Patroons. The club's home opener will be Wednesday, December 6 against the Vancouver Dragons.

The ten-team league will be divided into the American (Albany, Atlanta, Indiana, Minot, and Pittsburgh) and National (Butte, Great Falls, Utah, Vancouver, and Yakima) Conferences, and play a total of 240 regular season games. Each team faces its conference rivals seven times, while squaring off with cross-conference foes four times apiece. The 16-week season concludes on Sunday, March 25, and the CBA Playoffs begin on Wednesday, March 28.

The 23rd CBA All-Star Classic, which features the Long Distance Shootout, the Slam Dunk Competition, and the CBA All-Star Game, will be hosted by the Butte Daredevils on February 6, 2007.
