Pitton Back To NHL, Sorochan Reassigned

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, has announced Edmonton has recalled goaltender Bryan Pitton (PITT-in) from the Thunder and goaltender Aaron Sorochan (SOAR-oh-chan) has been reassigned to the Thunder from Springfield.

Sorochan is expected to suit up for the Thunder tonight against the Idaho Steelheads in a game beginning at 6:10 p.m. (1420 KSTN/StocktonThunder.com) at Qwest Arena.

Selected in the fifth round (133rd overall) by Edmonton in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft by Edmonton and under NHL contract to the Oilers, Pitton earns his second recall directly to the NHL this season and the 21-year old is 7-8-1 this season with a.912 save percentage and 3.15 goals-against-average in 17 ECHL games.

The 6-foot-2, 176-pound goaltender was recently named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week on Tuesday and in the last three games, has amassed a record of 3-0-0, a.972 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against-average.

Sorochan, 25, is under contract to Springfield and in 10 games, he has compiled a record of 1-5-0, a.871 save percentage and a 3.99 goals-against-average.

The 6-foot, 185-pound goaltender skated with Edmonton in NHL preseason training camp and previously competed for four seasons in college with the University of Alberta (CIS). Last season, Sorochan guided the Alberta to a Canada West Hockey championship and posed a record of 15-1-2 in 18 games with a 1.66 goals-against-average and.937 save percentage.

The Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew 223,854 fans to Stockton Arena in 2008-09.
