Pitcher Raley Promoted to Iowa

Des Moines, IA - Left-handed pitcher Brooks Raley joins the Iowa Cubs from Double-A Tennessee today, and is scheduled to start against Tacoma. Left-handed pitcher Travis Wood was recalled by the Chicago Cubs and started against Houston last night.

Raley, will make his Iowa and Triple-A debut today against counterpart Andrew Carraway of the Rainiers.

The 6-foot-3 lefty posted an even 2-2 record with a 3.51 ERA (19 ER/48.2 IP) in eight starts with the Smokies.

A sixth round selection by the Cubs in the 2009 draft out of Texas A&M University, Raley has collected a 16-17 career record and a 3.81 ERA (120 ER/283.1 IP) in 58 minor league appearances (55 starts) entering the 2012 season.

Wood's start last night marks his second stint with Chicago this season, after a spot start on May 6. The southpaw held the Astros to two runs (both earned) on two hits, walked two and struck out three in 5.2 innings, but suffered the loss in a 2-1 Houston win.

In seven starts with Iowa, Wood holds a 3-3 record with a 4.57 ERA (21 ER/41.1 IP), fanning a team-high 39 batters.

The Iowa Cubs and Tacoma Rainiers meet today for game three of the four-game series at Principal Park with a 12:05 p.m. start.
