Pirates Turn Parking Opportunities into Charitable Donations

Bradenton, Fla. "" The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced suggested parking locations for Spring Training games at McKechnie Field. The historic ballpark is undergoing a $10-million renovation in advance of its 45th season as the Pirates Spring Training home.

The Boys and Girls Club on 9th Street West will continue to offer limited parking in the lot behind its building. The entrance to the lot is on 9th Street West. The cost is $10, and all proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Manatee County. A portion of the lot is reserved for season ticket holders who purchased parking passes. The remaining spaces will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

The Boys and Girls Club will offer additional parking in a lot located on 6th Street West, with access from 17th Avenue. The cost at this lot will also be $10, with the proceeds benefitting the Boys and Girls Club.

A $10 parking lot will be available at 800 17th Avenue West, on the site of the former Fogartyville Café. Parking will also be available at the Bradenton Wastewater Treatment facility, located one-half mile east of the ballpark on 17th Avenue. Parking in this lot will cost $5, which will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club.

Parking will be available at Renaissance on 9th , one-fifth of a mile south of the ballpark on 9th Street West. Parking will cost $5 and proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels PLUS and the Food Bank of Manatee.

Free parking will be available in a lot located at 14th Street West between 12th Avenue and 14th

Avenue, approximately one-third of a mile northwest of McKechnie Field. The lot will be available for Spring Training only. The lot is unpaved and will not be staffed by the Pirates.

Downtown Bradenton offers garage parking and a large lot at City Hall with metered parking on weekdays and free parking on weekends. The garages are on 12th Street West between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue and on 10th Street West between 4th Avenue and Manatee Avenue. The City Center Lot is located at 12th Street West and Third Avenue. Public transportation is not provided between the downtown parking facilities and McKechnie Field.
