
Pirates Sign DB Antonio Mitchell II

The Massachusetts Pirates have signed defensive back Antonio Mitchell II for the 2024 season. Mitchell II was most recently with the Edmonton Elks in the Canadian Football League.
The 5'11", 190 lb. Vista Murrieta, CA native never played a down of college football, but he was a standout sprinter at the NCAA Division One level. At the 2022 Big Ten Track and Field Championships, Mitchell finished second in the 200 meter event in a time of 20.35. He also was fourth in the 100 meter dash, crossing the line in 10.12. As a graduate student with the Boilermakers, Mitchell won the 100 at the Indiana Invitational.
From 2019 through 2021, Mitchell ran at Arizona State where he finished seventh in the 100 and was a member of the 4x100 relay team that finished fourth in the PAC 12 Championships. He also posted a personal best indoors running the 60 in 6.67 at the Texas Tech Shootout.
Mitchell II began his collegiate track career at Riverside Community College where he won the CCCAA California State Championship in the 100 meter as a freshman and sophomore. He also was the champion in the 200 meter as a Sophomore.
