
Pirates, Rivalries, WBLM To Host "Welcome Back Party"

PORTLAND, ME- The Portland Pirates will kick-off the 2005-06 season on Thursday, September 29th with their 2nd Annual "Welcome Back Party." The evening will feature the "new" Pirates players as well as head coach Kevin Dineen and assistant coaches, Bruce Crowder and Mike LaZazzera.
This will be the first opportunity for Pirates season ticket subscribers (full, partial, 10 game and flex customers) to pick up their season tickets and materials as well as an opportunity for all fans to purchase tickets for the Pirates pre-season game on October 1st against Providence at the Portland Ice Arena. The family-friendly event (kids are welcomed!) will take place from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at Rivalries Sports Pub and Grill on 10 Cotton Street in Portland and will be free and open to the public. The first 50 people through the door will receive a free ticket to the Pirates preseason game.
"Last year our "Welcome Back Party" was a huge success, so we wanted to make sure we could do it again for the fans that will be able to meet our players for the very first time in a fun, casual atmosphere, filled with music, entertainment and prizes and of course, our players, coaches and mascots," said Brian Petrovek, Pirates Managing Owner/CEO.
Rivalries Sports Pub and Grill, the event's host, will be offering food and beverage specials and Pirates sponsors Bud Light and Pepsi will be supporting sponsors. Among the evening's guests will be on-air personalities from WBLM 102.9 FM. The event will also include raffles and free giveaways.
All attendees will also have an opportunity to meet the Pirates players up close and personal. Expected to be part of this year's Pirates team are: Jordan Smith, Aaron Rome, Shane O'Brien, Tim Brent, Joel Perrault, Zenon Konopka, Chris Kunitz, Curtis Glencross, Dustin Penner, Pierre Parenteau, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Latislav Smid, Nathan Saunders, Ryan Shannon and Shane Hynes, top prospects for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
The Pirates home opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 7:05pm, Hockey Night in Portland, at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Individual tickets will go on sale on October 3rd. Season ticket plans for the 2005-06 season are now on sale at the Pirates office, located at 531 Congress Street in Portland. Ticket plans start at just $50.
