Peoria Rough Riders News Release

PEORIA (Ill.) – The Peoria Pirates (3-4) host the Wichita Stealth (4-3) for hometown football action on Saturday night, May 24 at 7:00pm in Carver Arena. This Saturday is United States Army Night and the Pirates will be sporting special edition camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off immediately following the game. All of the proceeds from the auction benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

In the spirit of Memorial Day, the Pirates are remembering and saluting members of our nation's armed forces. For this game only, the players will be wearing authentic, one of a kind, special edition camouflage jerseys instead of their black jerseys. Once the fans take the field after the game, the players will return, line up in numerical order and the auction will begin. The highest bid will receive the jersey right off the player's back.

Last year, the team ran a similar promotion and raised nearly $8,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Also, the Pirates are offering a special reduced rate to all uniformed military personnel. Those who attend the game in their uniform will receive $2.00 off the price of their ticket.

The Pirates have won two games in a row now and the Stealth have lost their last two. The Peoria Pirates are third in the National Midwest Conference while the Wichita Stealth are second in the National West Conference. A win for the Pirates would give them a sweep of the series 3-0 and a .500 record in 2003. The win would also give Coach Cowdrey his 20th win as Pirates' af2 Head Coach.

Support the Pirates and the troops this Saturday at 7:00pm at Carver Arena. Tickets are still available, so let's pack the place! Call the Peoria Pirates office for tickets 309-637-7777.
