Pirates Get Back At It With Another Busy Weekend

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League kick off another busy weekend tomorrow (Friday) night at the Cumberland County Civic Center when the Hartford Wolf Pack visit for a 7 p.m. start presented by the Maine Chevy Dealers. Tickets for the game, as well as all remaining Pirates home games at the Cumberland County Civic Center, are now on sale by calling (207) 775-3458, visiting the Cumberland County Civic Center Box Office or going on-line at www.portlandpirates.com.

Saturday the Pirates travel to Manchester to take on the Monarchs in a 7 p.m. game followed by a Sunday afternoon game at 4:05 p.m. in Providence against the Bruins. Both games can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5FM and on-line at www.portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.

The Pirates (1-3-0-0) head into weekend action following a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Lowell Devils in their last outing Saturday in Lowell. Mike McKenna turned aside 41 shots in the shutout, becoming the just the second goalie in franchise history to record a shutout in his Devils debut. JP Lamoureux made his AHL debut in the game for the Pirates, taking over for starter Jhonas Enroth midway through the second period. The rookie goaltender, who established an ECHL record with eight shutouts last season, stopped all 18 shots he faced in the relief appearance.

Hartford arrives at the CCCC sporting a 2-2-0-0 record and coming off a 3-2 win over Providence on Sunday. P.A. Parenteau registered a goal in the victory and is tied for second in AHL scoring with four goals and three assists for seven points in four games. Corey Locke has been dangerous early with a league-leading five goals in his first four games.

The Monarchs are 3-1-0-0 this season and coming off a 2-1 victory over the defending Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears on Sunday. Scott Parse has five assists in the first four games of the season to lead the Monarchs in scoring while rookie Andrei Loktionov leads the team with three goals.

A re-match with the Bruins caps weekend action for the Pirates on Sunday. Providence has dropped two straight, including a 3-2 setback at the hands of the Wolf Pack in their last outing last Sunday. Veteran defenseman Andy Wozniewski leads the Bruins in scoring with a goal and six assists in four games. Brad Marchand is tied for the AHL goal-scoring lead with five.
