Pirates Announce Themes for 2022 Home Games

WORCESTER, MA - The Massachusetts Pirates, Champions of the Indoor Football League, have announced their themes for all home games to be played on Phoenix Field at the DCU Center for the 2022 season. The Pirates themes will feature education, their fans, the City of Worcester and Champions along with other great causes during the upcoming season.

The first theme takes place on Saturday night, March 12 at 7:05 as "Opening Night" will see the Pirates 2021 IFL Championship banner unfurled from the rafters above Phoenix Field at the DCU Center. It will be the final chapter of the Pirates championship season as they look to write more history in 2022.

Education comes to the forefront as on Sunday, April 3 its "College Day" as Massachusetts takes on the Quad City Steamwheelers at 1:05 pm. Students with current college IDs will be able to take advantage of a box office promotion where they will be able to purchase one ticket and get another for free, for any seating section in the arena. The Pirates will also host a "College Fair" as colleges and universities will have representatives on the concourse with information available to prospective students.

The day will be complete with a "Stroll-Off." Music will be playing throughout the event allowing Greek fraternity and sorority organizations to show off their dance moves. To top it all off, it will also be $5.00 beer day! Fans will be able to take advantage of this special promotion at the Craft Beer Corner of the DCU Center on this night.

The Pirates will honor a younger generation of fans on Saturday, April 23 at 7:05 pm when they face the Iowa Barnstormers on "Scouts Night." Boys and Girls Scouts in attendance will receive a special patch from the Pirates! Not to leave anyone out, it will also be "Worcester Spirit Night." Fans are encouraged to dress up and show-out "everything Worcester," from gear to signs and banners.

One of the most important themes takes place Sunday afternoon, May 1 when the Pirates host the Vegas Knight Hawks on "Cancer Awareness Day" at 1:05pm. The Pirates will honor cancer patients and survivors from across the New England area. A major announcement regarding this event will be made at the start of the season. The Pirates will be wearing special jerseys for this game that will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the day, with the proceeds going to a local non-profit organization.

Saturday night, May 21 will be "City of Champions Night," when the Pirates take on the Sioux Falls Storm at 7:05. That's when the Bay State's most recent champion, the Massachusetts Pirates, will invite champions from across the commonwealth to share their success stories and come together as "Title Town". It's expected that players from most professional sports franchises will be on hand for autographs and in-game appearances. Additionally, non-professional champions are expected to be included in the festivities.

May 21 will also be "Fan Appreciation Night" and "Trade Workers Night." Giveaways and performances are expected to take place for the fans on their special evening, while also recognizing America's blue-collar workers.

Memorial Day Weekend is May 28 and that Saturday at 7:05 pm the Pirates will host "Military Appreciation Day" when they play the Bismarck Bucks. When a Military ID is presented at the Box Office a buy one, get one free transaction will take place allowing Vets and their families to enjoy a great night of Pirates football. A special Oath of Enlistment will be happening during halftime, so Pirates Nation, you definitely don't want to miss out.

The next generation of stars will be in the spotlight on Saturday night, June 11 at 7:05 as the teal and blue will host "Youth Sports Night," when the Pirates take on the Green Bay Blizzard. The youth sports teams in attendance will have the chance to experience special in-game experiences and recognition. Bring your team out and enjoy a great night at the DCU Center!

The final regular season home game will be Sunday, June 11 when the Pirates take on the Spokane Shock. It will also be a salute to all dads on "Father's Appreciation Day." All Fathers will be admitted free when accompanied by a child. Further details on this promotion will be forthcoming.

The Pirates will also celebrate the "City of Worcester's 300th Birthday." Several dignitaries are expected to be on hand to help celebrate the tri-centennial for the city.
