Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers began their 2005 training camp with team physicals on Wednesday, March 16 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. The players passed with a clean bill of health and began their practice regiment the following morning.

After two days of practice the Pioneers' Head Coach, Les Moss, held an inter-squad scrimmage on Sunday, March 20th. Players had a chance to showcase their talents and skills learned and practiced in the prior week's exercises.

"So far we have had three very hard days of practice. We threw a lot at them this past week and all the players have responded well," said Head Coach Les Moss. "The offense is picking things up well and the team is progressing as planned." We, as coaches, have a lot of hard decisions to make this week leading up to our scrimmage."

The Pioneers have another scrimmage scheduled for Friday, March 25th. The team will be hosting the Albany Conquest as well as the Manchester Wolves. The scrimmage will be divided into three halves. Albany and Manchester will play the first half, with the Pioneers warming up at half time. The Pioneers will then play Manchester for the Wolves' second half, followed by Albany for the final half of football.

"This will be a great opportunity for the coaching staff to see what our players truly have to offer," said GM/President Dave Berryman. "The players will have a chance to play against other veterans from the league and to gain valuable arena experience before the official start of our season."

Pioneers' single game and season tickets are now available. Anyone interested in purchasing single game or season ticket should contact the team's ticket sales office at either (570) 270-5811 or (570) 270-5813. Single game tickets are available for as little as $7 and season tickets are available for as little as $40.
