Pioneers Set to Face Dorados

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers will be facing the Rio Grande Valley Dorados in Hidalgo, TX on Saturday, May 21st. This will be the first meeting between these teams in franchise history.

The Pioneers came home victorious after beating the Quad City Steamwheelers 63-55, becoming the first team in Quad City's history to beat the team on four separate occasions. The team's victory helped Pioneers' QB, Kyle Rowley, to the Offensive Player of Week 7.

Rio Grande Valley is also coming off of a week 7 victory, beating the Central Valley Coyotes 61-51 on the road. The Dorados lost both defensive specialists to injuries in their battle against the Coyotes, forcing Marquis Floyd to give up his offensive duties. There is no word on the condition of either player.

Pioneers' Kyle Rowley is ranked 4th in Total Offense and Total Offensive Yards; 3rd for Total Offensive Touchdowns and Total Offense per Game; 2nd for Passing Average per Game and Passing Yards and 1st for Passing Touchdowns. Offensive Specialist, JR Thomas is ranked 5th for Reception Touchdowns; 3rd for All Purpose Yards and Kick Return Average and 2nd for Kick Returns and Kick Return Yards. Rocco Forgione is ranked 4th for Receptions, Reception Yards and Reception Yards per Game. Kicker, Dave Davis, is ranked 4th for PAT Kick Percentage and 2nd for PAT Kicks Made. Defensive Specialists Ronnie Kaymore and Jamie Hattley are ranked 8th and 9th for tackles, respectively.

This will be the second game of a long series of road trips for the Pioneers. They will be playing 5 of the next 7 games on the road before their second bye week July 2nd. All of the Pioneers' road games can be heard on WILK 980 AM.

The Pioneers will return home Saturday, May 27th by hosting the Manchester Wolves. Single game and group tickets are now on sale.
