Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers finished up their first road game of the season beating the Albany Conquest 55-37 for a thrilling come from behind victory. The Pioneers defense held the Conquest to only seven points in the second half, continuing their stellar defense that also held Quad City scoreless in the second half the week before.
Pioneer's QB Kyle Rowley is ranked first in the league for both Passing Touchdowns (20) and Total Offensive Touchdowns (22). Offensive Specialist, JR Thomas, is 1st in Kick Off Return Yards (273); 2nd in Scoring (60pts), Reception Yards (105.3/game) and Reception Touchdowns (10); and 3rd in Receptions (24). Kicker David Davis is 3rd with a PAT Percentage of 90.0, while Jamie Hattley is ranked 2nd with 20.5 tackles and Ronnie Kaymore is ranked 4th with 18 tackles.
The Pioneers look to continue this winning streak through their third home game of the season against the Louisville Fire. The Pioneers (3-0) and Fire (2-0) are the only two undefeated teams left in the American East Division. This week's match-up will be held on Friday, April 22 at 7:30 PM at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
This week's game theme is "Put Out the Fire Night." There will be a door giveaway of rally towels for the first 1500 people through the gates. Nicole Macri will sing the national anthem as well as special half-time music along with a routine from the Diamond City Dancers.
The Pioneers will be at home again on Saturday, April 30th. Pioneers single game and group tickets are now on sale.
