Glens Falls Dragons News Release

Glens Falls: Elmira finished the game strong as they scored 6 runs off the Eagles bullpen to win 10-4 at East Field in Glens Falls.

Glens Falls trailed 4-2 going into the 7th inning but the relief couldn't keep the game close as Elmira hung a 5 spot in the 8th inning to put the game out of reach.

Logan Salow (Kentucky) got the win as he pitched 7 innings, working around 4 hits and striking out 9 batters while allowing 2 runs to score but only one being earned. Kevin Cowan (William Patterson) was matched up against Salow and took the loss as threw 6 innings and gave up 4 runs with 10 hits and getting 4 Pioneers out on strikes.

Elmira's sparkplug on offense came in the form of Chris Kalousidian (Manhattan) who was 4 for 5 at the dish and scored 3 runs. Drew Fisher (USC-Upstate) was 1 for 3 with 3 RBI in the game for the Pioneers.

The Eagles found their bright spot in Brandon Purcell who was 1 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI.

Glens Falls got the scoring started in the first inning when Ryan Dodge (Nova SE) doubled Danny Oliveri (Triton) in after Oliveri reached on a fielding error by the second baseman.

Elmira struck back scoring 2 runs in the second and adding one more in the third off of Cowan. In the second Drew Fisher smacked a double to left that was just out of the lunging reach of fielder Colton Montgomery (Georgia College) which scored Zac Bellinger (St. Rose) and Taylor Hillson (Mansfield). In the third Nick Walker (Old Dominion) would bring Chris Kalousidian in on a double but would get thrown out at third as he tried to advance on the throw home.

Things took a big swing in the 8th inning when the Pioneers would bring home 5 runs on just 4 hits. It all began when Zac Bellinger was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and that was followed up with a walk to Jason Patnick (Manhattan) as reliever Mike McFerran (Brockport) endured a wild streak. Derek Deler (Florida Int.) would drive in 2 runs with a double to right center and that chased McFerran from the game. Brad Currao (Wagner) came on to shut the door but he allowed back to back doubles to TJ Dixon (Samford) and Nick Walker before getting the next two batters out.

The Eagles would try and fight back in the 9th as Brandon Purcell brought in a run with an RBI fielder's choice with the bases loaded and one out to be followed with a screaming RBI double by JQ Folena (Cabrillo), but that did little more than make a dent as the game had already been decided.
