
Pioneers af2 Training Camp Opens this Weekend

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers arenafootball2 (af2) football team officially open's training camp this weekend Sunday March 8th at the Wyoming Valley Sports Dome, 131 Bear Creek Blvd Wilkes-Barre PA 18702, at 9am. Coach Ingold and his staff will be working out many returnees from last year's 15-3 squad. Many new talented players will be on hand trying to make the squad. Coach Ingold said, "This training camp will be the most competitive of my 4 seasons at the helm. The Pioneers Home Opener is Friday March 27th at 7:30pm at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre versus the Manchester Wolves.
Under af2 rules, teams are allowed to open camp two weeks prior to the week of their first regular season game. Teams are allowed to bring 35 players to camp (not including the optional two-player International Training Squad), but must cut down to 30 on the third day of full contact camp (which starts Wednesday March 11th). The final cut to 22 players (19-active; three-inactive) is the Monday prior to the first game.
