Pioneers Add 2 Players

Elmira Pioneers News Release


The Elmira Pioneers have added infielder Mike Terhune and pitcher Brad Cook. Terhune was formerly with the Braves and Mets organzations.

Terhune was batting .242, 5, 23 with Nashua of the Atlantic League this year. Last season he was with the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League where he batted .260, 3, 31 in 80 games. Terhune was at AA Greenville in the Braves system in 2000 where he batted .226, 1, 16 in 82 games. The 26-year-old of Pocono Harbour, Penn. signed with the Braves in 1996 out of NC State.

Brad Cook is a rookie and no details are avialalbe on his career at this time.

The Pioneers released infielder Casey Baker and pitcher John Chadwick. Baker hit .156 in 6 games with Elmira. Chadwick appeared in one game with the Pioneers on Thursday night vs. Quebec.
