Frisco RoughRiders News Release
On "Paint the Park Pink" night in front of 10,509 at Dr Pepper Ballpark, the RoughRider offense provided plenty of fireworks slamming three home runs in the same inning to defeat Wichita 7-3. As part of the festivities, every Frisco player boasted a pink jersey with their usual black hats and white pants. Michael Schlact (2-0) earned the victory allowing only two runs in his home debut with Frisco. Taylor Teagarden led the attack going 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Wranglers scored first with a run in the second on a solo shot from Jorge Padilla to give Wichita the early 1-0 advantage. Frisco answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning, all courtesy of the long ball. Chris Davis led off the inning with his fifth homer as a âRider to tie the score at one. Following a John Mayberry single and Teagarden double, Emerson Frostad hit his tenth home run of the season to make the score 4-1. Anthony Webster added another run later in the inning with his sixth shot of the season. Wichita scored their second run in the fourth on a solo home run from Mike Stodolka. The âRiders added two more in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Casey Benjamin and a double steal that allowed Adam Fox to swipe home to give the âRiders the 7-2 lead. All of the Wrangler' runs came on solo home runs as Wichita added their third run in the ninth on a homer by Adam Donachie.
Schlact went 6 1/3 innings surrendering only two runs on seven hits. He struck out five and has yet to walk a batter in his 11 2/3 innings with Frisco. John Thomson (0-1) received the loss in a rehab start with the Wranglers.
Teagarden is now hitting .647 (11-for-17) in his past five games, including two home runs, to improve his season average to .410. Frostad has two home runs in his past three games and five RBI. With the victory and the San Antonio loss, the âRiders now possess the top spot in the South Division with a second half record of 27-20.
The âRiders and Wranglers will play the second game of the three game set Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Frisco's Armando Galarraga (9-6) will face off against Wichita's Mike Connolly (4-5).
