Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks LHP Cesilio Pimentel has been named the American Association Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for May 18-21, the opening week of the season.
Pimentel was lights-out in his first start of the season on Saturday night for the RedHawks. The lefty from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic threw 8.0 innings of shutout baseball against the Texas AirHogs to pick up the victory in Fargo-Moorhead's 5-0 win. Pimentel allowed just three hits, struck out eight AirHogs and did not allow a walk.
Pimentel was signed by the RedHawks in April after being released at spring training by the Atlanta Braves organization.
Winnipeg Goldeyes 1B Shawn Pleffner batted .625 (10-for-16) in four games to claim Pointstreak Player of the Week honors.
The RedHawks continue their season-opening roadtrip with the first of three games against the league's newest member, the Cleburne Railroaders, in Cleburne, TX. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 740 AM The Fan or viewed at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
Tickets are available for all RedHawks home games, including the Home Opener on May 29, at www.fmredhawks.com, at the Newman Outdoor Field box office or by calling 701-235-6161.
