Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, Calif. - A pair of RBI from Brett Pill and Carter Jurica helped the Fresno Grizzlies snap a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Tucson Padres on Tuesday at Chukchansi Park. Pill and Jurica combined for five of the Grizzlies' 12 hits in the game.
Pill gave the Grizzlies their first lead of the series with a two-run home run into the left field bleachers in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jurica, meanwhile, plated his two runs with a line drive single to center field that made it 4-1 Fresno.
Grizzlies starting pitcher Boof Bonser scattered four hits and three walks over five innings. The right-hander earned his first win of the season. It was also Bonser's first victory in a Grizzlies uniform since 2003.
Sandy Rosario tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Bonser. Rosario has not allowed an earned run in his six innings pitched.
Heath Hembree threw a perfect ninth inning to pick up his team-leading fifth save. Hembree struck out Brandon Allen looking to end the game.
Jonathan Galvez drove in both of the Tucson runs with a pair of RBI singles. His third-inning RBI gave the Padres a 1-0 lead.
Kensuke Tanaka joined Pill and Tanaka with a multi-hit game. Tanaka went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
The Grizzlies will have their first day off this season on Wednesday and then head to Reno for a four-game series against the Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
