The Tucson Padres winning streak ended at six games Tuesday, as the Fresno Grizzlies won 4-2 at Chukchansi Park. The Padres won their second consecutive series three games to one.
Tucson scored first in the top of third when Jonathan Galvez lined a single to center field bringing home Jaff Decker. Brett Pill's two-run home run in the fourth inning put Fresno ahead 2-1. The Grizzlies extended their lead to 4-1 in the seventh when Carter Jurica hit a two-run single to left. Galvez's RBI single in the eighth brought Tucson within two. Galvez finished the night with three hits and two RBIs.
Heath Hembree was able to hold off the Padres in the ninth for his fifth save of the season. Boof Bonser earned the win for Fresno, pitching five innings, yielding four hits, three walks and one run. Eddie Bonine was charged with the loss in his debut for Tucson. The knuckleballer allowed six hits, a walk and two earned runs in three innings of work.
