LAWTON, OKLA- The Oklahoma Cavalry is proud to announce that forward Marvin Phillips has been named the Continental Basketball Association Defensive Player of the Year for the 2007-08 season. He was voted in by the ten CBA head coaches.

Averaging 10 rebounds per game, Phillips ranked third in the league. He also averaged a block and a steal a game. This is Phillips second season in the CBA. Last year he played with Pittsburgh before being traded to the Albany Patroons to play for Head Coach Michael Ray Richardson.

"This is great," said Richardson. "He blocked shots, grabbed rebounds, and guarded tough guys all season. This is an award well deserved."

Joining Phillips on the CBA All-Defensive team are two Minot Skyrockets Ronnie Fields and Sidney Holmes.

The Cavs will face the visiting Skyrockets Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. and Monday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Great Plains Coliseum. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Cavs office located at 629 SW C. Ave. or at Adventure Travel in Central Mall or on Ft. Sill at the PX.
