Reading Fightin Phils News Release

FirstEnergy Stadium – Philadelphia Phillies manager and former R-Phils shortstop Larry Bowa will return to Reading for the Phillies 35th annual Winter Tour, on Thursday, January 23 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Square Mall. Bowa and former R-Phils Marlon Byrd ('01) and Brandon Duckworth ('00) will sign free autographs. Reading manager Greg Legg will also sign autographs as part of the tour.

The Fairgrounds Square Mall is located on the 5th Street Highway (Business RT. 222) in Reading. Parking and the event are free of charge.

The world famous Reading Phillies Mascot Band will play their first gig of 2003 during the Tour and the one and only Phillie Phanatic will be up to his usual shenanigans. Bat making demonstrations by Stick-by-Stan, Phillies organist Paul Richardson, information on the Phillies' new ballpark and ticket information tables for both Reading and Philadelphia are scheduled to be part of the fun.

AUTHOR GORDON ADDED TO TOUR LINE-UP

Robert Gordon, who co-authored "More than Beards, Bellies and Biceps: The Story of the 1993 Phillies", with Tom Burgoyne, will take part in a book signing at Walden Books in the Fairgournds Square Mall during the Phillies Winter Tour. The Tour is scheduled for Thursday, January 23 from 7:00-8:30 PM. Burgoyne will not attend the book signing. He is a "close" personal friend of the Phillie Phanatic and will be looking after his big green pal during the Tour.
