(Lakewood, NJ) The Philadelphia Phillies will make an appearance in Lakewood (NJ) next week. Manager Larry Bowa, pitcher Brett Myers and outfielder Marlon Byrd are scheduled to attend the event at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at noon.

Representatives from the Phillies, Lakewood BlueClaws and Kimball Medical Center will open the event and, following a short presentation, each of the representatives will be available for questions.

Concluding the afternoon, Bowa, Myers and Byrd will visit with patients at the Kimball Medical Center. This is one of several charitable visits the Phillies are making in the Philadelphia region. The next PUBLIC event will be February 6, 2004 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.

"We always look forward to this time of year and to have the Phillies back in the community again," BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown said. "They'll spend some quality time, one-on-one, with the patients and hopefully it will brighten their day."

"We are proud to be the official health care provider of the Lakewood BlueClaws," said Joanne Carrocino, FACHE, executive director of Kimball Medical Center. "It gives us great pleasure to host an event which brings together the Phillies, the BlueClaws and the Lakewood community."

Bowa has more wins in his first three seasons than any other manager since Pat Moran (1915-1917). Last season, Myers was the youngest (22 years old) pitcher to start in the Phillies rotation on Opening Day in that last six years. Byrd ranked third in average among all NL rookies in 2003 hitting .303.
