Philadelphia Barrage Announce 2004 Roster

Villanova, PA (May 16, 2004) - The Philadelphia Barrage announced their 2004 roster today, following the team's final cuts on Sunday evening. This season's roster features six players who were not on the roster in 2003, including two Major League Lacrosse rookies. Major League Lacrosse rosters are limited to 23-man active rosters, with 18 players dressing for games. An additional 5 players will be added to the roster following the 2004 Collegiate Draft. The Collegiate Draft will be held on Thursday, June 3 at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, CT. The Barrage currently hold the #3 Overall selection for the 2004 Collegiate Draft.

Among the five MLL veteran newcomers to the Barrage roster, three will have an immediate impact on the defensive side of the field. Greg Cattrano, the 2002 MLL Goalie of the Year and league MVP while with Baltimore, Brian Kuczma, a 2003 MLL All-Star who had played with Boston for the past three seasons, and Brian Spallina a former Long Island Lizards defenseman, will join Barrage long-stick veterans Nicky Polanco, Kyle Sweeney, Matt McFarland and Billy St. George. Goalies Justin Cynar and Matt Hunter round out the defensive end for the 2004 Barrage.

Two other players with MLL experience who are making their debut with the Barrage are Midfielders Ryan Moran (Baltimore) and Dan Paccione (Long Island). The team added one MLL Rookie in Attackman Liam to the roster. Only four players, Roy Colsey, Matt Striebel, Keith Cromwell and Blake Miller, remain from the Barrage's 2001 inaugural roster. Colsey and Miller were both assigned to the team during the league's inception in 2001, Cromwell and Striebel joined the team following the 2001 Collegiate Draft.

The Barrage open their 2004 season on Saturday, May 22 against the New Jersey Pride. The home opener is set for 7:00 p.m. at Villanova Stadium. For tickets, call the Barrage Ticket Office at 888-450-7802, or you can purchase tickets through any Ticketmaster location. Tickets will also be sold at Villanova Stadium on Saturday, May 22.
