MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Youngstown Phantoms are able to pull off the comeback and snap Muskegon's eight-game winning streak and 10-game home winning streak after the Phantoms took game one in overtime by a final score of 4-to-3 on Friday, Jan. 21 from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon. The Lumberjacks received goals from Jack Williams, Quinn Hutson, and Ben Strinden, but a late power play goal, in addition to the overtime game-winner, lifted the Youngstown Phantoms to victory on Friday night.

1st Period

Despite plenty of chances and a Muskegon power play, no team could find the twine as both teams skated to a scoreless tie at the end of the first period.

2nd Period

At 5:39 of the middle frame, Lumberjacks captain Jack Williams found the back of the net for the eighth time this season to give Muskegon a 1-to-0 lead. Gavin McCarthy picked up the lone assist.

The Phantoms would respond at 13:09 of the second period with his fifth goal of the season to tie the game 1-to-1. Stiven Sardarian and Kyle Bettens helped on the play.

After two periods of action, both teams were deadlocked in a 2-to-2 heading into the final period of regulation.

3rd Period

While shorthanded, Phantom goaltender Kyle Chauvette coughed up the puck and gave it away to Muskegon's Quinn Hutson, who deposited the freebie into the back of the net at 6:39 to give his team the 2-to-1 lead. Hutson's 18th goal of the season was unassisted.

However, Charlie Lurie would even the contest 2-to-2 just under a minute later at 7:32 while on the power play. Lurie's eighth of the year was assisted by Adam Ingram and Trey Taylor.

At 9:45 of the third period, Muskegon's Ben Strinden broke through on a stretch pass from Jacob Guevin and roofed a puck over Chauvette to give the Lumberjacks a 3-to-2 lead. Guevin scooped up the lone assist.

With just under two minutes left in regulation, Winter Wallace scored the game-tying goal to level the game 3-to-3 at 18:06 on the power play. Sardarian and Bettens picked up the assists.

For the third game in a row, the Muskegon Lumberjacks needed an extra period to decide the winner and collected one point in the standings and proceeded to sudden death overtime to settle the 3-to-3 game.

Overtime

At 3:12 of overtime, Youngstown's Kyle Bettens silenced the Muskegon crowd with his ninth goal of the season to win the game for the Phantoms. Chase Pietla and Adam Ingram assisted on Bettens's game-winning goal.

With the overtime loss, the Phantoms snap Muskegon's eight-game winning streak, which is tied for the franchise record set in 2017-18, and break Muskegon's 10-game home winning streak, which is now the new record in Lumberjacks history.
