Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH - The Youngstown Phantoms are proud to announce the signing of forward Zachary Morin to a tender agreement for the 2023-2024 season.

Morin, a 6'2" 175-pound forward who hails from Terbonne, Quebec, has played 56 games for the prestigious Little Caesars Midget program. In those contests, he has scored 41 goals and added 53 assists for 94 points.

Youngstown Co-GM's Jason Deskins and Ryan Kosecki stated "(Zachary) is a world-class player. There is a reason some have projected him as the potential first overall draft pick in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He is big, skilled, smart, and can fly, yet he plays a heavy, power forward game that will translate to every level. This kid has an NHL frame and the tools to go along with it. We are fortunate to have Zachary in a Phantoms jersey. It's a great day for our program".

Phantoms Head Coach Ryan Ward added "We are ecstatic to add Zachary to the Phantoms family. Zachary is a trailblazer, one of the best hockey players in the world at his age, and he is going to showcase that in the USHL. Most impressively, Zachary has an insatiable appetite to excel as a player, person and teammate. Getting to know him throughout this process has shown his passion in the pursuit of his goals on and off the ice. Those goals align perfectly with where the Youngstown Phantoms are headed. Zachary is coming to Youngstown to win championships and to help guide our program to being the best place to play junior hockey in the world. We could not be more excited to have Zachary join our program".

Morin's current coach, Brian Jardine expressed "Zachary is a power forward that plays with a mean streak, every team will hate to play against him. He makes plays with his feet, his frame, and can play in all situations. He is beloved by his teammates and is extremely popular in the locker room".

As a result of signing Morin, the Phantoms will surrender their second round pick in Phase I of the USHL Draft this upcoming spring. The Phantoms used their first round tender to sign Sascha Boumedienne from the Columbus Jr. Blue Jackets back in November.

The Phantoms are back at the Covelli Centre this week as they host the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Thursday, January 19th and the Madison Capitols on Friday, the 20th and Saturday the 21st. Get your tickets to see these future stars by calling (330) 747-PUCK!
