Lehigh Valley, PA - The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, are pleased to announce that forward Colin McDonald has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 31, 2016.
McDonald erupted for six goals, four assists, 10 points and a plus-five rating last week as Lehigh Valley won all four games during the week extending its season-high winning streak to five consecutive games.
McDonald's monster week began with a goal and an assist in last Monday's 6-5 shootout triumph at the Hershey Bears. He then produced the third hat trick in Lehigh Valley Phantoms history as part of a massive five-point night in the team's 6-3 win over the Binghamton Senators at PPL Center on Wednesday. Lehigh Valley's captain kept his scoring streak alive with an assist in Friday's come-from-behind 4-3 overtime victory against the rival Penguins before capping his stellar week with a pair of goals in the club's 5-3 win in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday.
Through 27 games with the Phantoms this season, McDonald has registered nine goals, eight assists and 17 points.
In recognition of his achievement, McDonald will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Phantoms home game.
