SWEETEST PLACE ON EARTH - The Philadelphia Phantoms were able to break out of their recent dry spell Saturday night, jumping out to a 3-0 lead and finishing off a 3-2 win over the Hershey Bears at the GIANT Center in Hershey. Three different players scored, while Brian Boucher took the win with 18 saves.

The Phantoms developed their triple-tiered advantage in just over one period's time. The first goal came on the power play 8:43 into the contest, when Kyle Greentree fed a puck from the right circle to Stefan Ruzicka on the left post. He knocked it past Frederic Cassivi for the 1-0 lead.

Later in the frame with 4:57 left, Darren Reid blocked a shot at his own blue line, got up and started a two-on-one rush the other way. He drew all the attention of the Hershey defenders before sliding it across to Pete Zingoni, who beat Cassivi for the 2-0 first intermission advantage.

Just 82 seconds into the second period, Jared Ross took a slapshot from the left side that hit traffic in front and came to Boyd Kane. The captain tapped it in for the three-goal lead.

Hershey jumped on the board at the 7:44 mark of the second with a power play goal. Sami Lepisto's shot from the point was deflected by Louis Robitaille and made it past Brian Boucher for the 3-1 score. Then in the third period, Jonathan Paiement altered the flight of another shot from the point with 7:27 remaining. The Phantoms were able to lock the doors for the rest of the way.

The Phantoms outshot the Bears 29-20 on the evening and were 2-for-5 on the power play, while Hershey was 2-for-4. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Phantoms, which was the longest of the season so far to this point. The team is now 17-7-1 for 35 points and has a seven-point lead over Albany in the East Division.
