Defenseman TJ Schweighardt with the Omaha Lancers

Youngstown, OH - The Youngstown Phantoms have added USHL veteran defenseman TJ Schweighardt in a deal with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. The Phantoms sent forward Cole Burtch and defenseman Cole Teleki to the Roughriders in exchange for Schweighardt and 2022 Phase II 6th round draft pick.
Phantoms Co-GM, Jason Deskins stated "First and foremost, we would like to thank Cole Burtch and Cole Teleki for their time in Youngstown. We wish them well in Cedar Rapids moving forward. Regarding TJ, we are ecstatic for him to be in Youngstown. TJ is a reliable, puck moving, 200-foot defenseman that has the ability to control the pace of the game on both sides of the puck. TJ has invaluable experience within our league and has been impactful during his time in Cedar Rapids and Omaha. He provides stability to our backend and leadership to our team that we desperately needed. He's a versatile defenseman that does everything well. We are excited to watch him patrol the blue line for us in Youngstown."
TJ spent last season as a member of the of the Omaha Lancers and posted a stat line of 3 goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 49 games played. TJ was an integral part of the Lancers second-place finish and playoff appearance in the USHL's Western Conference. The year prior to that he played in 35 games for Cedar Rapids. In that campaign he added 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points. In totality, TJ Has played in 88 USHL games in the regular season and has posted 6 goals and 16 assists for 21 points.
Co-GM, Ryan Kosecki feels, "TJ is a commodity in the market that we are extremely fortunate to get. High end right shot defenseman are coveted in this league so it isn't always easy to fill a piece as large as that in the season. TJ will bring added skill, competitiveness, and experience to our club. He is a valued addition and we are excited for him to arrive in Youngstown."
