Youngstown Phantoms News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, OH - The Youngstown Phantoms have acquired USHL veteran Andon Cerbone from the Omaha Lancers in exchange for Reese Laubach. In the deal, the Phantoms also acquired a 2023 Phase II 10th round pick and a Phase I 3rd round pick in exchange for 2023 4th and 5th round picks in Phase II and a 2024 Phase I 10th round pick.
Cerbone, a Stamford, Connecticut native, spent parts of the past three seasons with Omaha and the Chicago Steel. Prior to the move, Cerbone, an alternate captain with the Lancers this season, had 14 points in 21 games. Before his time in Omaha, Cerbone spent two years with the Chicago Steel totaling 45 points in 91 games, winning the Clark Cup with them in 2021. Cerbone played youth hockey for the Mid-Fairfield Rangers and the Brunswick School, putting up prolific scoring numbers for those programs.
Phantoms Co-GM's Jason Deskins and Ryan Kosecki stated, "We would like to thank Reese for his time in Youngstown. We wish him well in Omaha. We hope Reese has lots of success with the Lancers and we can't thank him enough for the effort he put in with the Phantoms."
Deskins and Kosecki added, "Andon Cerbone is a welcomed addition to the team. We are excited to add a smart, playmaking center that can help us reach our goal of bringing a Clark Cup to Youngstown. Andon has high-end elite skill and can make plays in any situation. He will have a major impact on our team in many ways, especially on the power play. Andon brings over 100 games of USHL experience to Youngstown. We couldn't be happier to have Andon joining our program here in Youngstown! He will be a major asset to us throughout the season and playoffs."
