SPRINGDALE, Ark. - On Monday, Major League Baseball announced former Northwest Arkansas Naturals infielder, Peyton Wilson, was named the Texas League Player of the Month for April. Wilson becomes the Naturals' fourth Player of the Month recipient and first since July, 2021.
Wilson, 25, was on fire in the opening month of the 2025 season. The Alabama native slashed .392/.505/.689, all of which still lead the Texas League. He went deep twice with four triples and eight doubles during his 19-game stint with Northwest Arkansas while recording at least one hit in all but two of the games he played this season. A switch-hitter, Wilson put together a 15-game hitting streak, the second-longest on the circuit so far in 2025. Peyton was promoted to Triple-A Omaha on April 29. Earlier this season, Wilson was awarded the Texas League Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in San Antonio against the Missions when he hit .423 with eight RBI over a six-game stretch, April 14-20.
The University of Alabama product played parts of three seasons with the Naturals and etched his name into the record books. Wilson played in the fourth-most games in club history (267) while his 1,170 plate appearances ranked third. He's also third all-time with 60 doubles and tied with Tyler Tolbert for second on the career triples list with 12. He also ranks fourth in career RBI with 142 and runs scored with 158.
Wilson joins Balbino Fuenmayor (May, 2015), Nick Pratto (May, 2021), and MJ Melendez (July, 2021) as the only players in team history to win a Texas League Player of the Month award. The Naturals have only had one Pitcher of the Month winner in their history, and it was Drew Parrish in August, 2021.
Jose Fluery of the Corpus Christi Hooks (Double-A Houston Astros) won the Texas League Pitcher of the Month award for April. The 23-year-old right-hander went 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in four starts.
