Pettit Activated from Disabled List, Colmenares Reassigned

SALT LAKE CITY (July 21, 2009) - The Salt Lake Bees announced today that outfielder Chris Pettit has been activated from the Disabled List and will return to the Bees lineup. The Bees also reassigned infielder Carlos Colmenares to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Pettit, 24, was placed on the Disabled List on June 5 with a left hamate fracture. In four games for the Arizona League Angels during his rehab stint, he hit .357 with one double, one RBI and one stolen base. In 50 games for the Bees in 2009, he owns a .367 average with 21 doubles, four home runs, 34 RBI and 14 stolen bases. The Pasadena, Calif. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 19th round of the 2006 draft.

Colmenares, 23, has appeared in one game for the Bees in 2009, hitting .250 with one RBI. In 56 games for Rancho Cucamonga this season, he has a .282 average with 12 doubles, three triples, 18 RBI and 11 stolen bases. The Maracay, Venezuela native signed with the Angels as a non-drafted free agent in 2004.
