Peterborough Petes News Release

The Peterborough Petes tonight announced that they have traded 19 year old forward Zach Lorentz and 17 year old defenceman Trevor Murphy to the Windsor Spitfires for 18 year old defenceman Brandon Devlin and 20 year old right winger Derek Schoenmakers. The Petes also sent a 6th round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection to the Spitfires for a 6th round pick in 2014.

Schoenmakers, a 6'2", 189lbs right winger from Kitchener, ON has recorded 9 goals and 13 points for the Spitfires this season with 38 penalty minutes. He fills the Petes final overage position joining Francis Menard and Brett Findlay on the Petes forward unit.

Devlin, a 6'1", 204lbs defenceman from Brampton, ON has recorded 1 goal and 6 points for the Spitfires this season with 31 penalty minutes.

"This trade makes us a better team and also a tougher team to play against" says Petes Head Coach Mike Pelino.  "Derek Schoenmakers is an experienced Major Junior player and has the ability to contribute offensively as well as providing a real physical component to our forward group while Brandon Devlin is a steady stay at home defenceman who should provide a real strong influence to our blueline."

Both Derek and Brandon as expected to be in the Petes line up on Friday night when they travel to London to take on the Knights.
