March 25, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Utah Warriors News Release
West Valley City, UT â Utah Warriors kicker Pete Garces was named the NIFL Pacific Conference Player of the Week for week 2. Against the Storm, Garces was 2x2 on his field goal attempts, including a 49-yard boot in the first quarter. He also was 5x5 on PATs and is a perfect 14x14 this season.
Garces also provided one of the game's biggest hits when he dropped Storm return man Trice Crump on his head. The turning point of the game came on the perfectly executed on-side kick by Garces. He dribbled the ball just beyond the Storm front line and Utah recovered, then took the lead on the next play.
This is the first award for Garces and the second straight week a Warrior has received a player of the week award.
The Warriors travel to Montana for a game with the Billings Outlaws this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm and the game can be heard live KALL 700 AM with Ric Miller providing the play-by-play. Utah returns to the E-Center on April 17 at 7:00 pm when they host the Black Hills Red Dogs. For tickets visit www.utahwarriors.com or call 801-973-7311.
