Sussex Skyhawks News Release

AUGUSTA, N.J. - Sussex centerfielder Ron Perodin was four for six with an RBI and run scored, but it was his hustle that allowed the Skyhawks to take a 9-8, 11- inning victory over the New Jersey Jackals Sunday at Skylands Park.

With one out and the score tied 8-8 in the bottom of the 11^th inning, Sussex right fielder Matt Weston drew a walk. Second baseman Chris Brown followed with a single to left field, putting runners on first and second with one out.

New Jersey reliever Hunter Davis then struck out catcher Matt Hackney, but with two outs Perodin chopped one towards first base. Juan Tejeda fielded it cleanly but in an attempt to beat a hustling Perodin, flipped the ball past Davis who was covering on the play. Weston scampered home from second on the play with the winning run.
