Perkovich Named Kings' Manager

Champion City Kings News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Champion City Kings will have a familiar face managing the team when it takes the field in late May to start season two. 2014 Prospect League All-Star Chris Perkovich was named the club's manager Tuesday.
"His passion for the game and to win fits perfectly with what we believe in," said Kings general manager Rick White. "I felt that with him just graduating college [before our season] and still having that feeling in his gut about playing, he would be a great leader for our team. He has a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and it should rub off on our players."
Last season for the Kings, Perkovich hit .250 with three home runs and 12 extra-base hits. The infielder from Saginaw Valley State also picked up a hit and scored a run in the All-Star Game, helping the East Division to a 9-2 win.
"I'm really excited to be back with Champion City again, this time as the manager," said Perkovich. "It's an honor to be named manager of the Kings and I plan to bring a to of enthusiasm to the organization."
Perkovich's attitude as a player was a main reason for hire. "When he played for the Kings last summer, he really made an impression on me," said White. "He was one of our team captains and one of our all-stars. His work ethic and preparedness were head and shoulders above anyone on the team. He did whatever we asked of him without any questions."
The 2015 roster is beginning to take shape and the new skipper likes what he sees. "I look at our roster and I don't see any reason we can't make a run at a Prospect League championship," said Perkovich. "We have speed, power, defense and good pitching."
Perkovich and the Kings, who will begin to be revealed over the next few weeks, return to Carleton Davidson Stadium in Springfield in late May. Continue checking www.championcitykings.com for upcoming information on the schedule, players, team news and more.
