Perfetto's Heroics Push Aces Past Greenville

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA - Daniel Johnston and Stephen Perfetto scored third period goals, helping the Alaska Aces overcome a 2-1 deficit to defeat the homestanding Greenville Swamp Rabbits Thursday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Greenville took a 1-0 lead at 19:02 of the first period on a 2 on 1 rush with Darian Dziurzynski finishing for his 9th goal of the season.

Alaska would tie the game in the second period. Felix Poulin poked a puck out of the clutches of Swamp Rabbits goaltender Alan York and to the front of the net. Collin Valcourt was there to scoop it to the top of the net for his 8th goal of the season.

Greenville would re-take the lead early in the third period. Richard Nejezchleb fired in a shot on a pass from Jordan Knackstedt, his 6th of the season and it was 2-1.

Alaska's offensive dominance showed later in the period as Daniel Johnston drove home a shot from the deep slot, his second goal of the season. Assists went to Perfetto and Poulin.

Perfetto's heroics occurred at 16:39 after an extended Alaska push in the offensive zone. He popped a shot under the crossbar over York. William Wrenn and Justin Breton got the helpers. It was Perfetto's 6th goal of the season.

Alaska dominated the shot chart, outshooting the Swamp Rabbits 47-20.

Aces goaltender Troy Redmann made 18 saves for the win. York finished with 44 in a losing effort for Greenville.

Alaska next plays Saturday and Sunday at South Carolina.
