January 14, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release

WHAT A RUSH

The Evansville IceMen started off the week with a 4-2 win Wednesday at the Ford Center against the Rapid City Rush. After a scoreless first period, the Rush scored twice in the first 2:49 of the second to jump ahead 2-0. But Nathan Moon buried two straight goals, and Alex Guptill added the eventual game-winner to give the IceMen a 3-2 lead after two. Cody Reichard stopped 19 shots in the third period and Daultan Leveille added an insurance goal as a short-handed Evansville squad earned a hard-fought win.

REICHARD'S BIG RETURN

In his first start since suffering a concussion December 4 in a game against Fort Wayne, Cody Reichard stopped 35 of 37 shots Wednesday in the 4-2 win over Rapid City. The Celina, OH native is now 3-2-0 this season since signing in Evansville November 21, and has 35 or more saves in four of his six starts.

MOON OVER THE FORD CENTER

IceMen forward Nathan Moon has four goals in Evansville's last two games at the Ford Center. The Belleville, ON native scored twice Wednesday against the Rush, and pocketed two goals in Evansville's 3-2 shootout loss January 3 to Wichita. Since the November 5 trade that brought Moon back in from Colorado, he has 22 points (7 goals, 15 assists) in 29 games.

FISH FRY

Last time the IceMen traveled to Toledo, Evansville rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the second period December 9 to a 3-2 comeback victory. Justin MacDonald scored twice in that game, and Daultan Leveille added a power play goal. The Walleye swept Reading last weekend on the road, defeating the Royals 3-1 Friday and 4-2 Saturday. Toledo has won three straight and seven of their last ten games, but the Walleye are 2-2 in their last two home contests.

THROUGH THE QUAD

The Quad City Mallards return to the Ford Center for the third time this season Saturday, and have never lost to the IceMen in Evansville since both teams joined the ECHL. The road team has won all three matchups this year. Quad City won 6-5 in overtime December 6 and 6-4 on New Years Eve in Evansville, and the IceMen earned a 3-2 win December 30 in Moline, IL. The Mallards have dropped into second place in the Midwest Division with 37 points, three points behind Fort Wayne and one point ahead of Indy.
