Visalia Rawhide News Release
VISALIA- Buoyed by a newly renovated Recreation Ballpark and a fresh identity, the Visalia Rawhide surpassed the 100,000 fan mark over the weekend, and have their sights firmly set on the all-time franchise record.
After Wednesday's crowd of 1,494, the Rawhide have officially drawn a total of 103,936 fans this season in 68 openings. It is the first time Visalia has drawn 100,000 since 1947, and the average of 1,528 to date is the best in club history.
The club is expected to eclipse the all-time franchise attendance record of 104,311 on Thursday night. The mark was set in 1947, and the Rawhide are 375 fans away from setting a new high.
The race toward history coincides with Recreation Ballpark's nomination for Best Ballpark Renovation in professional baseball by Ballpark Digest. Rec Park has been chosen as a finalist for the award, along with Elfstrom Stadium in Kane County and the Kansas City Royals' new-look Kaufmann Stadium. For more information, visit BallparkDigest.com.
The Rawhide conclude their home schedule tomorrow (Thursday) at 7:05 PM with the final Thirsty Thursday promotion of the year. The club will also welcome Great Day co-host Kopi Sotiropulos and the Boss of K-F-R-E 59's Viewer Made Videos as special guests. Each will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
Don't miss your last chance to see the new Recreation Ballpark this season, and your chance to be part of Visalia history! Visit RawhideBaseball.com or call 732-HIDE for ticket information.
