Colorado Crush News Release

Commerce City, CO (Apr. 17, 2003) - At the request of Quarterbacks Coach Mike Perez, the Colorado Crush will allow Perez to spend the remainder of the season focusing on his mortgage company, Platinum Funding, which he co-owns with former Denver Broncos running back Gene Lang.

Perez was retained by the Crush to coach the quarterbacks and provide guidance to the team's offense. He will remain in close contact with the Crush during the team's remaining five games.

"We appreciate the time and energy Mike has given to this team," said Crush President and CEO John Elway. "We knew from the beginning that once the rest of the coaching staff became comfortable with the offense, Mike would continue with his business. He has been a big help to all of us."

A 1983 graduate of South High School in Denver, Perez earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from San Jose State University, where he was an All-American quarterback. He played professionally in the National Football League and World League of American Football (the predecessor to NFL Europe) before starring in the Arena Football League, where he threw for 18,933 yards and 341 touchdowns from 1994-1999.
