Erie, Penn. - The Somerset Patriots (21-12) ended their longest losing streak of the season with a 5-2 over the Erie SeaWolves (22-11) Friday night at UPMC Park.

Once again, the Patriots bats were led by the home run ball. Oswald Peraza (1) led off the game with a solo home run out to left to give the team an early lead. Somerset added a second run later in the inning when a successful double-steal brought Oswaldo Cabrera home from third. It marked the third time this season a Patriot successfully stole home.

With the game tied at 2-2 later in the fourth inning, Oliver Dunn (3) belted a two-out, three-run home run to put the team back ahead 5-2.

The lone two Erie runs came on back-to-back two-out RBI doubles from Drew Ward and Kerry Carpenter in the bottom of the first.

Shawn Semple (W, 2-2) allowed two runs and struck out seven over five innings to earn the win. The Patriots also received four scoreless innings from their bullpen Friday night, including a scoreless ninth from Steven Ridings (SV, 2) to close out the game.

Joe Navilhon (L, 1-1) took the loss after he yielded three runs over three innings of relief.

The Patriots and SeaWolves continue their series Saturday night. Southpaw Matt Krook (1-0, 1.48 ERA) takes the mound for Somerset against righty Pedro Payano (1-1, 3.86 ERA) for Erie. First pitch at UPMC Park is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
